The University of Essex earned the distinction of being named ‘University of the Year’ at the Times Higher Education Awards 2018. QS World University Rankings has placed them among the top 400 universities world-wide. The other accolades include a Gold ranking in the Teaching Excellence Framework, top 15 for the seventh year for overall student satisfaction, and top 25 for research quality in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020. QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019 has ranked the Politics and Sociology subjects in the top 50.
