Birmingham has been placed at 81st position in QS World University Rankings. This cements their position in the top 100 universities globally and places them at 14th place amongst UK universities. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings rated Birmingham 116 out of more than 1,250 universities across the globe. Birmingham has an impressive 86% overall student satisfaction rating, ranking it fifth out of 24 leading UK universities in the Russell Group for overall satisfaction. In addition, students on 16 of the University’s programmes returned scores of 100% satisfaction. On teaching, 90% of students responded favourably.
The student population at Birmingham has about 8,700 international students from approximately 150 countries, while 31% of the academic staff is from overseas. Birmingham Business School’s distance learning MBA has been placed 17th in the QS World University Rankings for online MBAs. 27 subjects rank within the world top 100, seven subjects in the top 50, and Sports is ranked 5th in the world. Six other subject areas at Birmingham are also in the top 50 including Education, English Language & Literature, Linguistics, Theology, Divinity & Religious Studies, Development Studies and Dentistry.
